Jury duty
posted on July 30, 2008 by aylee
A lot of people don’t care for jury duty. But I did. I love reading courtroom dramas (especially John Grisham books). So as a never-been-summoned-for-jury-duty citizen, going for jury duty kinda appealed to me. Being part of a courtroom trial seemed a bit exciting. Until I was summoned.
You wait and wait and wait and wait. For only about an hour you do something of use. The rest of the day, you sit and wait. At least the jury hall at Kew Gardens, NY has computers and wifi connection. I’m using one of the computers right now. Yesterday was my first day. I was questioned and wasn’t picked for that case. So I was told to come back today for another round of waiting.
Now I understand why a lot of people don’t like being summoned for jury duty. It’s hard to like it regardless of how much you want to help.
UPDATE:
I was never called to court including all the other people who were told to come back. We were finally released from our obligation and are not required to serve for another 6 years. I was in the jury room online all day. I’m finally home.
